The Met Office fire severity index shows that the wildfire risk has been raised to 'very high' over much of England and parts of Wales, including Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The current heatwave and lack of rain are combining to create tinder-dry conditions that could make the landscape more susceptible to wildfires.

The public are asked to follow Countryside Code, avoid lighting fires or using barbecues and extinguish cigarettes responsibly.

If you see flames, retreat to a safe place and dial 999.
