We’ve reported in the past on the application for a solar energy farm at Haddon, Huntingdonshire (https://www.cprecambs.org.uk/campaigns-climate-change-and-energy/2022/11/01/haddon-solar-energy-farm/). We were pleased when an initial decision to refuse the application was made at the 18th December meeting of the Development Management Committee (DMC).  Subsequently, the Development Manager issued a report which was discussed at the DMC Meeting on Monday 22nd January.  Agenda item 3a invited DMC members to note changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) -published on 19th December 2023 - relating to the application, and to decide whether the previous resolution to reject should remain.  We are pleased to confirm that the original decision to reject the application was upheld.  You can read the decision notice here. Several reasons for refusal were given, one of which was the loss of good quality agricultural land and the impact this would have on our ability to grow food – a concern we’ve previously addressed.  We wait to see whether or not the decision is appealed and we will keep you updated.
