Environment Agency Prolonged Dry Weather update

CPRE Cambridgeshire and Peterborough attended an online briefing for NGOs and local stakeholders, in which the Environment Agency (EA) addressed their concerns regarding the prolonged spell of dry weather affecting the East of England.  The EA’s East Anglia Area moved into Prolonged Dry Weather status on Monday, 18 July 2022.  In Cambridgeshire this particularly applies to the Old Bedford and Middle Level, and the Cam and Ely Ouse catchments.  To view the slides from the Prolonged Dry Weather update, see here.

On the 26th July the EA convened the National Drought Group, which sees key decision makers come together to discuss the impacts of the current situation.  To read more, go to https://www.gov.uk/government/news/environment-agency-convenes-national-drought-group.

People across the country have been urged to use water wisely to protect water supplies and the environment during the current period of prolonged dry weather. For more information on how to save water, visit https://watersworthsaving.org.uk/
