We attended the Environment Agency’s (EA) Drought update briefing on 11th November. This meeting discussed the latest water situation reports and heard about the Environment Agency’s expectations for winter recharge. It was noted that the region has benefitted from recent rainfall and in some catchments we may be beginning to see the first signs of groundwater recharge. The EA will continue to closely monitor this, as it will take a prolonged period of effective rainfall to see our groundwater aquifers recharge ready for 2023. Meanwhile EA ecologists will continue to take samples and carry out analysis checking for further signs of drought impacts.
